The duties of the Provincial Islamic Committee are as follows:
1. Advisory duties
- To advise the provincial governor on matters related to Islamic affairs in the area.
- To coordinate and advise the Central Islamic Council of Thailand on related matters.
2. Internal administrative duties
- To oversee and inspect financial documents and asset accounts of mosques.
- To consider and resolve to remove members of the mosque's Islamic committee from their positions if they are found to have misconducted themselves, neglected their duties, or acted against Islamic principles.
- To appoint a provincial Islamic committee to prepare the registry of congregation members for a mosque that lacks a committee or whose registry has been lost.
- To consider and rule on objections in cases where a congregation member has been removed from the registry.
3. Certification and promotional duties
- To act as the body responsible for inspecting, certifying, and issuing "Halal" certificates for products or services of entrepreneurs in the province.
- To promote education and organize activities that do not violate Islamic religious principles.
- To look after the welfare of orphans and underprivileged individuals.
4. Religious duties
- To report the results of moon sighting to the Central Islamic Council of Thailand to determine important religious dates, such as the beginning of Ramadan (the fasting month) and Eid.
